#2: Skin Edit - Heimish Cleansing Balm [Thoughts]

Oh cleansing... so, so, so important yet for some reason some people seem to bypass its importance. Without squeaky clean skin no precious serum you put on your face is ever going to be absorbed and do what they're supposed to do.

One of the best lessons in beauty I've learnt with my bad skin is the importance of cleansing. Turns out that cleansing was a pretty big factor to why I kept breaking out - I wasn't using the right cleansing products for my skin.

Today I want to introduce this cleansing balm - not that it really needs my intro since a ton of people and bloggers have been recommending this, which was where I heard about it from.

I've been a fan of cleansing balms and cleansing oil for a long time because they work. I've had friends tell me to use micellar water to clean my skin and I almost laughed in their face because I never felt that micellar water has ever done me any favours when it comes to my evening routine where I need the skin to really be clean. I've always turned to makeup remover oil (I used to use Neutrogena) and balm (from Sasatinne) because they can be trusted to melt makeup off the face and really clean out the pores without drying the skin. For someone who has dehydrated skin this is pretty important.

This Heimish cleansing balm truly does wonders. I would definitely agree that it's one of the best cleansing balms and their hero product. You won't need a lot of it for your whole face, unless you have a massive face, and the solid balm you scooped up just melts into the face, taking away all the makeup and dirt upon first application. I have to stress that you need to emulsify this product by wetting your fingers and further massaging the product to get the best results (also applicable for other oil/balm cleansing products). Finally rinse your face with water and wash the balm off and leaving your skin squeaky clean.

Now, I shoot relatively often and "photoshoot makeup" is so much heavier than normal everyday makeup out of necessity. With different changes of looks throughout the day I have makeup put on and taken off me; with sensitive skin this isn't good news. The last thing I need on the day is a high power but...not gentle cleanser. Heimish is so good to the skin and doesn't leave my skin feel taught and dehydrated like my skin feels after some other cleansing products or after a hot shower. Yet I can just see my whole face come right off after first application. Occasionally when I'm paranoid I'll go in again the 2nd time to make sure I've got everything.

Promise I will stop bothering you now after my last comment about this product. There is a little spatula with its own compartment when you open the lid. Oh the little things that make me happy! I'm sure this is probably a personal preference but this spatula prevents any grubby fingers from touching the product. Occasionally, for some reason, I'll have makeup on my fingers either from application or from after removing my eye makeup, because I'm clumsy like that, and if I dipped said fingers into the pot it'll leave black marks in there. At least with the spatula the product will be clean and the only thing I need to clean is the spatula. Needless to say that I will be happily keeping the spatula when I finish the product.

I'm sure you've had heard a lot about this amazing product already so I'll stop here. Please bear in mind that just because this worked for me doesn't mean it will work for you. If you react to it, please stop using it.

Have you used it and what do you think of it? Do you have other balms or heavy duty cleansers that you prefer to use?
