#74 - Makeup Edit - Sigma Beauty Brush Cleaning Mat

Do you hate washing your brushes? I do. Given dirty brushes plays a part in low-key ruining your skin, I sure don’t do it often enough and leave and use dirty brushes for months.

Obviously I don’t recommend you to that and if you’re already regularly cleaning your brushes and love doing it, then skip this post. But if you hate cleaning brushes as much as I do but also understand the need to have clean brushes instead of just buying new ones so you have a clean brush to use… then try this product. This isn’t going to make you hate washing your brushes less, but it will make the task a lot less effort to tackle.

My 2 main problems with washing brushes are:

  • Can’t rinse the brush cleaner off thoroughly

  • the time it takes to wash all my brushes

The Sigma mat solves both problems

For a good deep clean I use a concoction of baby shampoo and dish washing liquid; most of my struggle are big brushes that just seem to hold the cleaner in the bristles and takes forever to rinse it clean. Without the mat I swirl the brushes in my palm, both the cleansing action and the rinsing action. You will see me repeatedly doing this to one brush because every time I squeeze the bristles more soap bubbles come out

The Sigma mat has 3 different segments with different textures that make this way easier to not only get the cleaner in and through the bristles - the makeup comes off a lot quicker - but also a good rinse off scrub. It gets to places where your hands don’t and the texture helps get a better rinse. There is also a "refine” section with a finer texture should you feel more need to rinse it across there.

The mat itself is also split into 2 areas - one for face brushes and other for eye/smaller brushes. Each area different texture suitable for the size and types of brushes you have.

I’m pretty confident that this mat has cut my brush washing time in half. I normally do face brushes first, then eye/smaller brushes, shake 'the excess water out, reshape on a towel and let dry. This makes bulk brush cleaning so much easier to manage and generally less effort to get through all your dirty brushes.

Have you tried it? What was your experience? And If you hate washing your brushes as much as I do, then give this a go and comment on how you find it
