#1: Skin Edit - One Night Essentials

So a few days ago I went on a mini get-away with the hubs; no flights necessary! We went to Wokefield Estate, mansion house, really lovely location and beautiful rooms. We were only going for 1 night - honestly it's just to chill. But also because we're not actually flying anywhere, I've brought quite a few makeup and skincare products. More makeup than skincare, in hope that we would be shooting something there, and also because I can never make up my mind.

When it came to skincare, I kept it simple this time, surprisingly, and brought some essentials with me (essentials in terms of function): makeup removal (not in image), Shu Uemura cleansing oil (not in image) face cleansing, toner, serum, moisturisers, eye cream. Picture shows the skincare routine and not the makeup removal routine.

I've been subscribed to GlossyBox and just grabbed the samples (sometimes full size) from different boxes and brought them along with me. Aside from the Liz Earle products, I've tested the others and made sure my skin doesn't react to it before I brought them - can you imagine if I didn't; getaway ruined.

So here's the list and what I thought about them:

  1. Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
I'm going to be completely honest to say I haven't actually used the cloth for this one, or how it's supposed to be used...buuuuut it has worked fine. It's my first time using this on my face and to be fair it isn't a bad cleanser, but I think it's because I'm used to low PH cleansers and cleansers containing salicylic acid, this cleanser might be a little too gentle for me. The size is great for travel (got it as a gift with purchase!) and it will do the job, but I'd still prefer my low PH cleansers in the long run
  2. Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic
As my toner was down to its last few drops, I got this. I've always wanted to try Liz Earle but wasn't sure where to start and for some reason thought a toner would be a good way to go. I was after a very hydrating toner as it'll make the skin grip on to makeup better later on and keep it nice and supple. This has not let me down! The scent is a little strong if you're not a huge fan of it - but the scent is really from the essential oils (neroli oil I believe?) and it doesn't actually linger so it's not like it's perfume added or fragrance added. My favourite thing about this is the bottle design. It's not a pump or a lid you pop open - you twist it and it opens up for you to pour the toner out. No more prying lids open for me (for some reason I have that problem all the time) and no more spraying the toner everywhere (again, maybe it's just me).
  3. Hey Honey Good Morning Facial Serum
I've had this for a while now because I use it sparingly. Because I'm so afraid I'll finish it soon! This has been in my skincare kit for travelling all the time because it does the job so well. I know it says "morning" but I use it in the evening for the skin to soak it all in. It goes on the skin and gets absorbed quickly. My skincare routine focuses on hydration when I'm away because dehydrated skin is a real thing - this worked wonders in keeping the skin hydrated and nourished. Have I used better serums? Absolutely! But who only uses one serum, amirite?
(use JayeHoney10 for a 10% off for your Hey Honey purchase - they ship internationally and with any luck I might make a few bucks from it :) )
  4. Stripped Skincare Moisturiser/Oil
I've always been really careful about oils because I've used those all natural oils and they break me out like no tomorrow. Now I haven't used this enough to know if it's a delayed response but if your skin doesn't have issues with oils like mine does then this is wonderful. It actually gets absorbed into the skin really well. I'd use this before a cream moisturiser because it has a thinner texture. I've actually also mixed a drop of this oil into my Urban Decay All Nighter foundation to make the foundation less prone to drying/flaking through time and it goes on quite smooth.
  5. Nip and Fab Kale Fix Moisturiser
Lightweight and great for day and night (also because why I brought an oil with me as well and doubled up the moisturiser for the evening), easily absorbed and hydrating to the skin and keeps it hydrated. I was actually surprised at how well this moisturiser performed on my skin because I haven't used that many products from Nip and Fab and the ones I've used I wasn't sure if I liked them. This one though, I liked.

And this concludes an unnecessarily long post about my skincare for the ONE night. Yes.

Have you tried these products and what did you think of them?

Til next time!
